Colleagues from Metro Bank’s Croydon’s store have just completed a charity golf challenge to raise £600 for The Katie Haines Memorial Trust. Just two months after her wedding, aged 31, Katie died of an accidental carbon monoxide poisoning at her home. The Katie Haines Memorial Trust was founded by her family to raise awareness of the dangers of carbon monoxide.

Metro Bank Puts Kids in the Money Zone

Metro Bank colleagues from the Newbury store have partnered with Education Business Partnership, a charity whose mission is to equip young children with vital skills needed to reach their full potential when they eventually join the workforce. The Newbury colleagues supported the charity’s Ready Steady Jobs event aimed at introducing primary school children to different career choices and helping them shape their thoughts as they set off for secondary school.

Bradford Welcomes New Metro Bank

The UK’s community bank, Metro Bank, opens its 78th store in Bradford, this Friday August 6th, creating 20 new jobs for the area. The new Bradford Metro Bank is the most northern based store, located at Market Street and offers local residents and business seven day a week opening.

A Mountain of a Challenge

The UK’s community bank, Metro Bank, gives every colleague a Day to Amaze – essentially a paid day off to support a local charity or good cause. Colleagues from Metro Bank’s Birmingham store chose to take on a mammoth task for their Day to Amaze by climbing Mount Snowdon in aid of Edward’s Trust, a charity which provides support to people affected by grief.

Money Mules are August’s Scam of the Month

The UK’s community bank, Metro Bank, is offering consumer guidance about how to avoid becoming a money mule and the serious consequences of doing so - the scam of the month for August. A money mule is a person who is recruited, sometimes unwittingly, by criminals to gain access to their bank account with the promise of financial gain. Teenagers, young and vulnerable people are often targeted as money mules when fraudsters offered phones, games consoles or other high value items in exchange for their legitimate bank account numbers and passwords. In 2020, UK banks identified 8,791money mule accounts owned by people under the age of 21.

Colleagues from Metro Bank’s Hemel Hempstead and St Albans’ stores volunteered to support local homeless charity DENS when COVID restrictions impacted DENS ability to stage the Hemel Hill Buster - a massive cycling fundraising event.
