Aylesbury Metro Bank will be supporting the 24 hour Relay for Life event on Saturday July 15th in aid of Cancer Research,
Relay For Life celebrates the power of community fundraising in the fight to beat cancer. Teams of family and friends fundraise for life-saving cancer research then unite as a community to honour everyone affected by cancer and celebrate the progress made in research.
This is the second year that Aylesbury Metro Bank has supported this 24 hour event. The teams will take it in turn to walk for 24 hours around a short track starting at noon on Saturday July 15th and finishing at noon on Sunday. To encourage the walkers the evnt will host live music from various bands, team stalls, craft stalls, a dog show and various food outlets. To keep the race interesting at certain hours the teams will have themed laps where they can dress up – the Bras & Boxers round for example was very popular last year and the event finishes with a celebratory survivors’ lunch before the evening’s Candle of Hope Ceremony.
Aylesbury Metro Bank will be donating drawstring goodie bags for all participating adult and children’s teams, as well as hosting a stand at the event. Metro Bank gives every colleague a Day to Amaze – essentially a paid day off to support a local charity or good cause. Some of the Aylesbury colleagues will be using their Day to Amaze volunteering as Marshalls for the event.
“As a community bank, we really want to support events like Relay for Life which fundraise for such an important charity,” explains Aylesbury Metro Bank’s store manager, Lewis Taylor. “We are looking forward to cheering the teams on and helping make the event as successful as possible for the charity.’’
