Dynamic Duo from Eastbourne Metro Bank Educates 1500 Students from Eastbourne College on Financial Management

 

Colleagues from Eastbourne Metro Bank George Flegg, Local Business Manager and Store Manager Kennedy Blakeley recently delivered Metro Bank’s financial literacy initiative, Money Zone. Approximately 1,500 students form Eastbourne College benefitted from the sessions which aimed to instill basic financial skills in  children of all ages.

 

Money Zone is a series of financial education lessons that Metro Bank offers - either virtually or in store. Money Zone comprises of four sessions - budgeting, saving, banking and the last session which takes place in store gives the students a behind the scenes look at the Bank including a visit to its vault. Metro Bank has delivered its Money Zone programme to over 250,000 children in 2,900 schools.

 

During the sessions, the teenage students showed remarkable enthusiasm and curiosity, particularly regarding strategies for saving money and effective budgeting techniques. George and Kennedy also discussed about their respective roles at Metro Bank, shedding light on the various career paths in the banking industry.

 

Metro Bank Store Manager, Kennedy Blakeley commented: “It’s incredibly rewarding to see teenagers eager to learn about financial responsibility. We hope that lessons like this will help build a bedrock of financial empowerment and responsibility.”

 

Metro Bank’s Eastbourne store located at Unit 70/71 The Beacon, 59/61 Terminus Road, Eastbourne, BN21 3NW. The store is currently open. Monday to Friday 9:30am to 5pm. Eastbourne Metro Bank is also part of the Safe Space scheme – the store is available to anyone experiencing, or at risk of domestic abuse, providing the opportunity to safely call a helpline, support service or loved one.
