Ilford Metro Bank’s Fun Financial Session with John F Kennedy Students

Ilford Metro Bank colleagues, Praveen Prabaharan and Emeka Aja, recently led an exciting and educational Money Zone session for the pupils of John F Kennedy Special School. This incredible school specializes in providing learning opportunities for students with autism and communication needs.

Money Zone is a series of financial education lessons that Metro Bank offers to children - either virtually or in store. Money Zone comprises of four sessions - budgeting, saving, banking and the last session which takes place in store gives the students a behind the scenes look at the Bank including a visit to its vault. Metro Bank has delivered its Money Zone programme to over 250,000 children in 2,900 schools.

The session was nothing short of an adventure as students were treated to an exclusive tour of the bank, including its vault. Praveen and Emeka went above and beyond to make banking concepts accessible and exciting, covering crucial topics like banking operations, the importance of savings, and how to protect oneself from fraud.

One of the highlights of the session was the revelation to the students that the bank can help them recover money if they fall victims to scams. This newfound knowledge not only surprised them but also armed them with a valuable tool for their future financial safety.

“Seeing the students’ faces light up with understanding was incredibly rewarding,” said Praveen. “We believe that these early lessons in financial management can have a lasting positive impact on their lives.”

Emeka added, “It’s all about building confidence and trust. We want these young people to feel people to feel secure and knowledgeable about their financial choices.”
