The UK’s community bank, Metro Bank, gives every colleague a Day to Amaze – essentially a paid day off to support a local charity or good cause. Colleagues from Metro Bank’s Chelmsford store chose to use their Days to Amaze to turn into Bob The Builder for the day and help restore the Mencap building.
City of Chelmsford Mencap is an independent local charity providing services for people with a learning disability across mid-Essex, ensuring they receive care and support to live life to the full. Located in Mildmay Road, their building has needed redecoration which two teams from Metro Bank having been tackling, ahead of the charity’s staff and volunteers returning back to the office.
“As a community bank, we are always looking to help local good causes. Over the past couple of weeks we have helped to transform the Mencap HQ - including revamping two of their offices. Work that would have cost the charity a small fortune, but work we have been able to tackle with our team of volunteers,” said Metro Bank assistant store manager, William Hobbs. “On behalf of all the colleagues who participated, we found this so rewarding and we are looking at helping out at more Mencap events being planned for post lockdown.”
Metro Bank’s Chelmsford store can be found at 38 High Street, Chelmsford, CM1 1BE.
The store is currently open Monday – Saturday 08:30am - 6pm. Sunday: 11am - 5pm.
