The UK’s best community bank, Metro Bank, gives every colleague a Day to Amaze – essentially a paid day off to support a local charity or good cause. Colleagues from Metro Bank’s Luton store chose to use their Days to Amaze as volunteers for Level Trust.
Level Trust helps local families overcome the costs of education Over 26,000 children in Luton live in poverty. Level Trust helps children aged 3-16 by providing gift cards for school shoes and coats, a Uniform Exchange ‘swap shop’, Learn@Home resource packs full of the things children need for homework and runs a summer school packed with exciting and enriching experiences.
“As a community bank, we love using our Days to Amaze to support local good causes,” explains Luton Metro Bank’s store manager Hayley Harrison. “We are planning to send more colleagues to help Level Trust with other work that needs doing.”
Metro Bank customer service representatives Gboyega Gbadamosi and Ryan Draper built bookshelves for the charity, so they could more easily store books that had been donated to them, as well as helping to move stock round. “We really enjoyed our spot of manual labour and being able to offer such practical support – very different from the work we do at the bank” explained Gboyega Gbadamosi. “Having a paid day from work to help out local good causes means a lot to us and we are grateful for the opportunity to help” added Ryan Draper.
Metro Bank’s Luton store can be found at 10-20 Castle Street, Luton LU1 3AJ. The store is currently open Monday – Saturday 08:30am - 6pm. Sunday: 11am - 5pm.
