Southend Metro Bank Colleagues Help Youth Training Initiative
The UK’s community bank, Metro Bank, gives every colleague a Day to Amaze – essentially a paid day off to support a local charity or good cause. Colleagues from Metro Bank’s Southend store chose to use their Days to Amaze as volunteers for the Phabulous Café a charity run café which provides on the job training to assist youths with additional needs.
Based in Southend, the Phabulous Café gives young individuals free training and experience in the hospitality sector with help to improve their self-confidence as they gain customer service skills.
At this special café, Metro Bank’s assistant store manager Vikki Grindrod and customer service representative Sophie Leddiman, helped decorating and upcycling furniture.
“The café is a fairly new set up that is actually a training centre for young people. It provides a safe learning environment for students who want to grow their skills in the catering sector as well as boost their social and communication skills too,” explains Southend Metro Bank’s assistant store manager Vikki Grindrod. “It’s a Phabulous place to work and train with a great supportive culture. We loved meeting the team and doing our bit to help this great local initiative.”
Metro Bank’s Southend store can be found at G19-G21 The Victoria Centre, SS1 2NG. The store is currently open Monday – Saturday 08:30am - 6pm. Sunday: 11am - 5pm.
