Colchester Metro Bank colleagues will celebrate Armed Forces Day this weekend with a treat in store for local children, as well as offering drop in sessions aimed at veterans and Armed Forces personnel, from 11am – 3pm on both days.
The annual celebration offers the chance to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community from currently serving troops to service families, veterans and cadets.
In July 2019, Metro Bank signed the Armed Forces Covenant and since then the Bank has been recognised as Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award Winners.
The Covenant is a pledge that together we acknowledge and understand that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy and society they serve with their lives.
The drop-in sessions are available to any serving or retired armed forces personnel to discuss the specific support Metro Bank has for Armed Forces personnel which includes use of BFPO as addresses, easier on boarding and specific Armed Forces products like a help to buy mortgage or safe deposit boxes.
“As a community bank, we actively support our Armed Forces,” explains Khaver Hussain, store manager at Colchester’s Metro Bank. “Any interested children can pop into our High Street store and pick up our new Armed Forces Day activity pack. The pack features a pan-military colouring in sheet, a Morse code quiz and facts, plus a pack of colouring pencils and a children’s reusable cup.”
Metro Bank’s Colchester store can be found at 31-32 High Street, Colchester, CO1 1DB. The store is open Monday – Saturday: 8.30am - 6pm and Sunday: 11am - 5pm.
