On Monday 23rd August, Luton colleagues from the UK’s community bank, Metro Bank will join in to support ‘Wicketz’ taking place in Luton. Wicketz is a cricket programme funded by Lord’s Tarverners which aims to provide cricket opportunities and teach fundamental life skills to young people aged 8-19 living in highly populated and deprived communities.
“As a community bank, we are very proud to be part of this event and want to help inspire and motivate young people to believe in themselves and reach their full potential in life,” explains Hayley Harrison, Luton Metro Bank’s store manager. “We will be helping with financial fundamental life skills – showing the kids how to manage their money with budgeting and saving tips.”
In term time, Metro Bank works with school teachers to deliver Money Zone – financial education workshops to their students and over 50,000 children have completed the programme to date.
Luton Metro Bank assistant store manager added, “We love working with kids of all ages and supporting parents and guardians with free events to keep kids entertained. We have a complimentary craft event running instores till the end of August for parents and guardians who are looking for a new activity to do with their children this summer.”
