Manchester Metro Bank colleagues will celebrate Armed Forces Day on Saturday 24 June. The annual celebration offers the chance to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to service families, veterans and cadets. The colleagues will attend the key event at the Stockport Centre which starts at 10am and will be collecting donations for Veterans into Logistics charity.
In July 2019, Metro Bank signed the Armed Forces Covenant and since the Bank has been recognised as Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award Winners.
The Covenant is a pledge that together we acknowledge and understand that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy and society they serve with their lives.
Veterans into Logistics is a non-profit organisation which provides training and support, with the aim to change the lives of ex-forces, individuals with convictions and any other vulnerable people who need help in gaining paid employment within the logistics sector.
“As a community bank, we actively support our Armed Forces,” explains Nilany Vasantharasan, store manager at Manchester’s Metro Bank. “In addition to fundraising for any interested children we will be handing out our new Armed Forces Day activity packs – which will also be available in our store this weekend. The pack features a pan-military colouring in sheet, a Morse code quiz and facts, plus a pack of colouring pencils and a children’s reusable cup.”
Manchester Metro Bank is located at 45 Market Street, M1 1WR. Store opening hours are Monday to Saturday 8.30am to 6pm, Sunday 11am to 5pm.
