Merry Hill Metro Bank has teamed up with Thursfields Solicitors to host a Properties, Purchases & Protection complimentary event aimed at both property investors and owners. The event will be held at the Merry Hill Metro Bank store on Thursday 19 May, from 6.30 - 8.00pm.
Four experts at the seminar will discuss mortgages, conveyancing, estate planning and how to best protect your property investment. The seminar will be followed by a Q&A session with light refreshments being served.
“In what is an uncertain time, I’ll be discussing some of the challenges people are facing in getting mortgages, especially those trying to get on the property ladder,” explains Metro Bank’s head of mortgages, Mark Adams. “And for those who have not been able to get a mortgage from elsewhere, I will also be discussing options they may want to explore.”
“Property sales have been in the news a lot,” comments Rachel Fletcher, the local business manager at Merry Hill’s Metro Bank. “With rising property prices and the conveyancing chain taking on average 26 weeks in the UK, this seminar is ideal for both experienced and first time investors to gain more insight into investing in Black Country properties and the potential returns that are available.”
Darren Cox from Thursfields Solicitors commented: “The property market throughout the Black Country, Worcestershire and the wider West Midlands remains buoyant. For most of us, property will be the largest asset we will purchase during our lifetime. This event gives people the chance to learn more about the property buying process, as well as discovering how, having worked so hard for a property asset, you can take steps to protect it in the event of a relationship breakdown, as well as ensuring that when you die your property goes to who you would want it to go to.”
Harbinder Gosal at Thursfields Solicitors will be discussing how best to protect your investment when a third party is involved with lending, by way of nuptial or co-habitation agreements. “Most people think of taking advice from a family solicitor when a relationship breaks down by which time things are tense between the parties and assets may have been intermingled. It is important for couples buying property, entering a cohabiting relationship or marriage to consider how to protect their assets in case of a relationship breakdown. It is also important for parents assisting their children to acquire assets to think about whether the assistance is a gift or a loan and how to protect their position.”
Wills & Estates Solicitor, Reiss Taylor said “A will is a legally binding way of dealing with your affairs after your death. It sets out your final wishes and provides certainty for loved ones following a bereavement. Despite the importance of having a will, they are often overlooked. In fact, less than half of the adult population in the UK has a will in place. I will outline the reasons for having a will and the consequences of not having one. We will also look at other ways of ensuring that you are prepared for life’s challenges such as losing of capacity and preserving assets for the next generation. Peace of mind is closer than you think.”
