Metro Bank continues its expansion this week with the opening of its 17th store in Guildford, Surrey. To mark the opening, the UK’s most revolutionary bank will be holding two days of celebrations on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th April. Guildford residents visiting the store will experience an array of entertainment including stilt walkers, popcorn, performing dogs, balloons and music, as well as a new, convenient customer focused bank.
Unlike any other bank in the UK, Metro Bank provides free coin counting for customers and non-customers with Metro Bank Magic Money Machines, replacements for lost or stolen debit cards on the spot*, as well as safe deposit boxes, and a 24 hour contact centre manned by people not machines. New account holders will be delighted to know they can use their debit and credit cards overseas without any charge from Metro Bank, whether they are withdrawing cash from an ATM or at point of sale**.
All of these benefits can be enjoyed at a time that is convenient to local residents and businesses as Metro Bank is open 8am – 8pm Monday – Friday, 8am – 6pm Saturday and 11am – 5pm Sunday and bank holidays, 362 days a year.
Craig Donaldson, Chief Executive Officer at Metro Bank, said: “Metro Bank’s model is simple – we want to give customers unparalleled levels of service and convenience, whether that’s in store, online or by telephone. Over 150,000 personal and business customers have flocked to experience our amazing service since we opened our doors in 2010. Our job is to make banking easy for our customers and now the people of Guildford have a bank that’s open seven days a week at times that suit them. We look forward to working closely with the local community in Guildford to make a difference to the way the town banks.
“We believe in our motto of ‘Local Bankers Making Local Loans’, with each store run by a local bank manager. We want to support SMEs and growing businesses in the local area and work closely with them to understand their needs. Metro Bank is a community bank and Guildford is a great personal and business community for us to serve.”
The new Guildford Metro Bank store can be found at 33 – 35 North Street, Guildford, GU1 4TE. The team is looked after by Local Director Ben Sheeran and Store Manager Amie Collins.
The Guildford opening is the latest step in Metro Bank’s expansion plan to open 200 stores by 2020. Further stores in Slough, Ealing and Milton Keynes are planned for 2013. Metro Bank is still the only high street bank to be granted a full service banking license by the FSA in the last 100 years.
