Metro Bank Colleague Joins Movember Challenge to Raise Awareness for Men’s Health

21st November 2024

The UK’s community bank, Metro Bank, gives every colleague a Day to Amaze – essentially a paid day off to support a local charity or good cause. Metro Bank colleague, Jay Woodbridge living in Kent has taken on a powerful challenge this November to support men’s health. Alongside his football team, Jay is participating in the annual Movember campaign, with a goal to walk 60 kilometres in Kent to raise awareness and funds for men’s health initiatives. Each kilometre represents one of the 60 men lost to suicide every hour around the world – a cause deeply personal to Jay.

Movember is an annual campaign tackling key issues that affect men. Since 2003, Movember has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world, challenging the status quo, shaking up men’s health research and transforming the way health services reach and support men.

Having experienced the tragic loss of a close friend to suicide, Jay is determined to make a difference. “I’ve seen firsthand the devastating impact that losing someone to suicide has on loved ones. This is a chance to make a real impact and support men’s health in a meaningful way,” says Jay Woodbridge, Metro Bank’s Incident Manager, Operational Resilience and Risk.

The funds raised through this challenge will go towards crucial programs focused on mental health, suicide prevention, and research into prostate and testicular cancer. Every donation – no matter the size – plays a vital role in saving and improving lives.

Jay has already raised over £100 and is eager to continue his journey, hoping to inspire others to get involved and support this important cause. By backing his challenge, supporters are helping fund essential programmes needed to create a healthier future for men.
