Metro Bank Colleague Supports Future Talent at Heathside School

29th November 2024

The UK’s community bank, Metro Bank, gives every colleague a Day to Amaze – essentially a paid day off to support a local charity or good cause. Metro Bank colleague Karl Porter recently completed a Day to Amaze at Heathside School on Thursday, 14th November, helping local students build their employability skills through mock interviews.

The event, designed to support Year 11 to Year 13 students, provided a unique opportunity for Karl to engage with the next generation of talent. Throughout the day, Karl conducted mock interviews, equipping students with essential skills to navigate real-world interview scenarios confidently. By offering real-time coaching and constructive written feedback, he helped the students refine their responses, build their confidence, and prepare for future career opportunities.

Karl also shared insights from his own career journey, answering students' questions and offering practical advice to help them navigate their paths.

“It was great to meet so many motivated students and see how well they embraced the challenge of a mock interview,” says Karl Porter, Metro Bank’s Director of Talent. “Their openness to feedback and eagerness to learn was inspiring. I also enjoyed connecting with other educators and supporting the next generation in preparing for their future careers.”
