Metro Bank Colleague Supports St Joseph’s Hospice at Light Up a Life Event

10th January 2025

Metro Bank, gives every colleague a Day to Amaze – essentially a paid day off to support a local charity or good cause. Metro Bank colleague James Chuter recently dedicated his Day to Amaze volunteering at St Joseph’s Hospice’s annual Light Up a Life event. This occasion brings together the community and honours the memory of loved ones and their families supported by the hospice during the festive season.

St Joseph’s Hospice, based in Hackney, provides compassionate end-of-life care and support to individuals and their families.

During the event, James assisted the Sky broadcast team, ensuring their cameras were protected from the challenging wind and rain. He also had the privilege of meeting local trustees, St Joseph’s Chief Operating Officer, and the on-site Chaplain. The experience offered James a chance to connect with families who had recently spent their final moments with loved ones at the hospice.

Inspired by his time at the event, James has now signed up for the Hackney Half Marathon to raise funds for St Joseph’s Hospice. He has also set up a JustGiving page to support this meaningful cause.

“Being part of Light Up a Life event was a humbling experience,” says Metro Bank’s Operational Resilience Lead Manager, James Chuter. “Spending time with the families and the hospice team reminded me of the vital role St Joseph’s Hospice plays in our community. I’m proud to continue supporting their incredible work by running this year’s Hackney Half Marathon.”
