The UK’s community bank, Metro Bank, gives every colleague a Day to Amaze – essentially a paid day off to support a local charity or good cause. Seven colleagues from Metro Bank’s Asset Finance team have recently volunteered at Shooting Star Children’s Hospice a charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families.
Organized by Louise Sturcke, colleagues Kevin Tonge, Simon Breuning, Natasha McQuade, Jane Howell, Oluwabunmi Ologbenia, and Madeline Goodband spent a day helping to maintain the hospice’s beautiful garden, enhancing the environment for the children and families who rely on the hospice’s services. This also marks the team’s second year of involvement with the hospice.
During their time at Shooting Star Children’s Hospice, the volunteers’ involvement extended beyond garden maintenance, as they took a full tour of the facility, immersing themselves in the hospice’s mission and gaining a deeper understanding of the incredible work being done to support children with life-limiting conditions and their families.
“Volunteering at Shooting Star Children’s Hospice has been a truly rewarding experience,” says Metro Bank Regional Director of Asset Finance, Kevin Tonge. “We hope that our small efforts bring a smile to someone’s face. We hope to continue supporting this wonderful cause and we’re already looking forward to our next visit.”
