Metro Bank, the UK’s best community bank, officially celebrate the LGBTQ+ community when its distinctive red logo turns rainbow and messages supporting Pride month appear in stores from June 7th. But the Metro Bank colleagues in the Midlands have also been surprising and delighting customers in store.
Visitors to the Metro Bank stores in Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Merry Hill and Solihull have been treating customers to the rainbow Skittle sweets to celebrate the local LBGTQ+ communities –a treat inspired by a family tradition.
“The Skittles present to everyone came from my family tradition,” explains Birmingham Metro Bank store’s customer service representative Gavin Conner. “Every year my family would give me a white bag of Skittles for Pride, as Skittles sell colourless sweets as they want to give the rainbow back to our community, so I suggested gifting Skittles in store as a piece of the rainbow as a sign of love and Pride.”
“Along with many other household name brands, we believe it’s important to recognise and celebrate our LGBTQ+ communities,” said Dan Whild, Wolverhampton Metro Bank’s assistant store manager. “Our distinctive red M is integral to our brand identity and transforming it into rainbow colours for the month of June feels like a truly inclusive way to signal our support for Pride and celebrate with all our customers.”
Metro Bank colleagues will celebrate Pride across the month of June as Pride runs from June 1st – June 29th.
Metro Bank will be participating in Birmingham Pride being celebrated on September 25th and 26th.
