Orpington Metro Bank recently delivered a fun and educational Money Zone session to approximately 60 Year 5 pupils from Hook Lane Primary School. The session was spearheaded by ex-pupil Harley Hayes-Scott, who alongside his colleagues Glynis Daley and Bodgan Jurubescu, guided the children through an engaging session about the basics in banking.
Money Zone is a series of financial education lessons that Metro Bank offers to children - either in-person, virtually or in store. Metro Bank has delivered its Money Zone programme to over 250,000 children in 2,900 schools.
During the session, the pupils were taught the importance of financial literacy, covering important topics such as how cash, cheques, and foreign currency work, and the significance of responsible money management. The pupils enjoyed an interactive visit to the Orpington Metro Bank store, where they had the unique opportunity to see the safe deposit box vault up close. The pupils were enthusiastic throughout the visit, asking questions making the learning experience both informative and enjoyable.
Harley Hayes-Scott, Orpington Metro Bank Local Business Manager, who organised the session, shared, “It was a privilege to return to my old school and help these students understand the importance of managing money. We hope they left inspired to think about money and saving in a new way.”
