The UK’s community bank, Metro Bank, gives every colleague a Day to Amaze – essentially a paid day off to support a local charity or good cause. Colleagues from Metro Bank’s Oxford store chose to use their Day to Amaze by volunteering for Ronald McDonald House Charities - a charity which provides free accommodation for families whose children are in hospital.
Based in London, Ronald McDonald House Charities have houses close to specialist hospitals across the UK to help provide free accommodation and relieve the stress of families having to travel to visit a sick child.
Oxford Metro Bank colleagues who helped with gardening at the charity’s Oxford House were Jasmine Masih, Emily Romans, Marta Cocu and Huma Rehman.“As a community bank, we are always looking to help local good causes. Over the weekend we really enjoyed tidying up the garden for Ronald McDonald Oxford House,” said Oxford Metro Bank’s store manager, Charlotte Johnston. “Gardens can help stressed out parents and relatives take a moment to try and relax. If what we did has made a difference to just one parent, we are very happy to have helped.”
Metro Bank’s Oxford store is located at 4-5, Queen St, Oxford OX1 1EJ. The store is currently open Monday – Saturday 08:30am - 6pm. Sunday: 11am - 5pm.
