Bromley Metro Bank Colleagues Help Out Local Animal Charity

Colleagues at Bromley’s Metro Bank, the UK’s best community bank, have used their Day to Amaze – essentially a paid day’s leave to support a local good cause – to help out at the Last Chance Animal Rescue Centre.

Edenbridge based Last Chance Animal Rescue Centre was founded in 1986 to rescue and re-home unwanted and abandoned animals – mainly dogs, cats and rabbits. A second centre opened in New Romney in 2015 and the charity operates a no destruction policy.

Six Metro Bank colleagues donated their time over three visits helping the Edenbridge centre with dog walking, cleaning the cat and dog bowls, fence painting as well playing with the dogs, cats and kittens – everyone’s highlight of the day.

The colleagues taking part were Zsa Smith, Kate Haughey, Lauren Alridge, Laura Spencer, Emma Rabarts and Abbie Pearce-King.  Some are dog owners and some are not, but they all wanted to help support the charity.

“I absolutely loved doing my day at Last Chance,” commented Bromley Metro Bank Lead Cashier, Zsa Smith.   “Everyone was so friendly and I loved walking the dogs. One dog in particular wanted cuddles even when being walk around the field and kept rubbing his head on my leg as we went round. It was also lovely meeting a couple and watching them fall in love with a dog we walked, they then started the process of adopting her which really made my day.”

“I heard about the charity at another local community event and was keen to help,” explains Emma Rabarts, Metro Bank’s Local Business Manager.  “We are such a dog friendly company, I knew the rest of the team would be keen to get involved and volunteer.”

Metro Bank’s Bromley store can be found at 72-76 High Street, Bromley, Surrey, BR1 1EG. The store is open Monday – Saturday: 8:30am - 6pm. Sunday: 11am - 5pm.
