The UK’s community bank, Metro Bank, gives every colleague a Day to Amaze – essentially a paid day off to support a local charity or good cause. Colleagues from Metro Bank’s Consumer Finance Team based in the Bank’s Holborn headquarters tackled the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge with their Day to Amaze to raise money for Cancer Research.
The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge consists of climbing Ingleborough (723m), Pen-Y-Ghent (694m) and Whernside (736m) - a combined hiking route of nearly 25 miles or 40km.
Metro Bank colleagues Dani Trawley, Becky Winchester, Ermal Ngjeci and Maria Boss together raised £1,569 for Cancer Research.
“The near ten mile hike between each peak really tested us and our joints, especially whilst carrying heavy backpacks,” explains Metro Bank Limit Appeals Lead Dani Trawley. “We all agreed it was the hardest activity we have ever done, both physically and mentally. That said it was incredibly rewarding knowing how much we helped to raise for a great cause and as a group we managed to keep each other motivated to complete the challenge. We also wanted to say a massive ‘Thank You’ to everyone in in our department and our call centre -Amaze Direct who supported us as with their help and generosity we exceeded our fundraising target.”
