HEMEL HEMPSTEAD & ST ALBANS METRO BANK COLLEAGUES VOLUNTEER TO HELP CHARITY RAISE £21K+
Colleagues from Metro Bank’s Hemel Hempstead and St Albans’ stores volunteered to support local homeless charity DENS when COVID restrictions impacted DENS ability to stage the Hemel Hill Buster - a massive cycling fundraising event.
DENS helps local people in Dacorum who are facing homelessness, poverty and social exclusion; ensuring everyone has access to temporary and short-term accommodation, emergency food and provisions.
DENS’ Hemel Hill buster cycling event were in need of more volunteers to help run the event, so ten Metro Bank colleagues from the Hemel Hempstead and St Albans stores stepped up to ensure participants could register at the Gadebridge Park start line and filter onto the course safely, in addition to running a checkpoint along the Chiltern Hills’ course distributing food and water to the cyclists.
Metro Bank’s Hemel Hempstead volunteers were Holly Palmer, Kevin Brammer, Dushyant Pandya, Harry Dear and Izzy Greatrex. Metro Bank’s St Albans volunteers were Andrew Shaw, Jeriel Crossman, Mike Green, Daniel Collins and Laura Elliott.
“As a community bank, we are here to help and we were delighted to be able to step up and volunteer to ensure the event could run smoothly,” explained Metro Bank’s Hemel Hempstead Assistant Store Manager Holly Palmer. “Congratulations to DENS and everyone who participated as they raised an impressive £21,811 – money that will make a real difference supporting local families and individuals facing tough times.”
