The Best Way to Spread Christmas Cheer is..Operation Elf

29th November 2024

The UK’s community bank, Metro Bank, gives every colleague a Day to Amaze – essentially a paid day off to support a local charity or good cause. Metro Bank colleague Nidhi Datar, a Credit Analyst from the Asset Finance team, recently spent her Day to Amaze volunteering at a local shop in Sutton for the British Heart Foundation’s Operation Elf 2024.

Operation Elf 2024 is a seasonal campaign aimed at supporting the British Heart Foundation’s life-saving research. Volunteers play a key role by organizing and preparing donated items for sale in the charity’s network of shops across the country. The funds raised help advance research into heart and circulatory diseases, ensuring that more individuals and families can enjoy festive moments together for years to come.

Nidhi spent the day preparing stock in the charity shop storeroom and assisting on the shop floor. Her efforts were aimed at ensuring that all donations were in top condition and ready for sale. The funds raised from the sale of these goods are crucial to supporting the British Heart Foundation’s mission – funding vital research into heart diseases and helping families enjoy more Christmases together.

“I’m so pleased to have been part of Operation Elf 2024. It was truly rewarding to know that the work I put in will contribute to a cause that brings hope to so many families. Every item sold can make a difference, and I’m proud to have played a part in that,” says Nidhi Datar, Metro Bank’s Credit Analyst.
