Military banking

Financial support and career opportunities for the Armed Forces

We signed the Armed Forces Covenant in 2019 because we’re dedicated to supporting current and former military members, and their families, in serving our country.

We understand how challenging military life can be, so our products and services are designed to make managing your finances simple and easy – no matter where you are in the world.

From little things like accepting BFPO addresses, to storing your valuables in safe deposit boxes, our people-people are here to help our military community in any way they can.

Spending time abroad is a huge part of military life, but our app and Online Banking can keep you connected. Open new accounts in minutes and get personalised insights straight to your phone.

There’s also no need to book an appointment to visit us in store – we’re open seven days a week, early ‘til late. And if you need to, you can choose someone you trust to manage your accounts on your behalf.

Armed Forces Help To Buy scheme

Nothing should stop you buying your first home. We support the Forces Help to Buy scheme and also allow up to four applicants – so if you’re called away during the process, the others can continue on your behalf. You can apply to let your Metro Bank mortgaged property out if you need to leave it for periods of time, for example when you’re away on training or serving abroad.

We bring banking to you

Supporting our communities with their financial education is important to us, and we would love to bring our financial education programme to your Cadet groups, units, and barracks. There’s no need to leave camp – just contact us on 0345 08 08 500 and we’ll arrange a visit.

Are you thinking about what's next?

We’re always looking to hire service leavers and Reservists. As a community bank, we know you can bring a range of vital skills to our customers and colleagues.

For us, it's more than just experience. We know that military personnel have a great approach to learning and adapting.

Our people-people team will be there for you from the very first step in your application process, providing you with personalised advice right through to the very end. Any veteran or service leaver who is interested in working at Metro Bank will receive a one-to-one phone call to discuss their CV, as well as interview guidance to ensure they feel prepared.

If you’re a Reservist or a Adult Cadet Forces volunteer, we’ll also give you an additional ten days of leave to use for your training or to support your Cadets.

We know changing careers can be daunting, but in the first few months of your new job you'll receive support from our former-military and reservist network.

We're also partnered with PTSD ResolutionVitality and Hugh James LLP to make sure we can support our colleagues effectively.
